OK, this tribe could use a little activity. How's about, for those willing to go this far, we use this thread to post some we are stumped on. Youu know, like when you ask the person across from your coffee cup, "Whats a four letter word for ### that starts with % and ends with $?" (if you get my drift). A more human way of using the web as a resource for those stumpers...

Also, if you feel inclined, you might mention where the crossword you are working on currently is found, so we can join you in it further if we wish...which might help us uncover any errors in your given letters as well, without requiring you to list all the clues.

I dont get to do them as often as I used to, but the only places I ever worked them regularly were Games Magaine (I always liked the World's Most Ornery Crossword Puzzle), and the Dell Magazine Family (I never succeeded in completing one of the Challenging ones, even with a lot of resource material). So you can tell I am not an expert by any means, especially not like those who can do them without resorting to reference material. I also like the New York Times, especially once Will Shorter from Games went there. Any of you out there recommend some great crossword material?

I'd especially be interested in any great 'How to' material.

Yes, I try to do them straight up first, but once I can get no further, I start going to the books.

I have always used the New York Times Crossword puzzle dictionsry, The Dell Crossword Puzzle Dictionary, any really old and particularly large giant sized dictionary. I also have a fairly large library of non-fiction resource material, but not enough, as I can rarely get more than two thirds of the msot difficult puzzles solved, more often less than half that.

So far I have never really used the web to solve puzzles, that seems like going to far, but I suppose there are excellent resources out there, too, and if anyone knows of them I'd love to hear.
